Default Normal.dot file

can you tell me where the normal.dot file is located in Microsoft Word 2000. I need to replace the original normal.dot file with the one we use at work. I had no problem locating it in Word 97, however I can't seem to locate it in 2000. I thought it would be in C\programfiles\microsoftoffice\templates or in office instead of templates, however it is not there.

Depends on your operating system (if you are on a network, it can depend on
where your SysAdmin decided to have it installed). The easiest way is to
use the operating system "Find" or "Search" function and let it look for
normal.dot

Thank you for your response Steve. I am not on a network. This is on my home computer which the operating system is XP professional. I did do a find for normal.dot file and nothing came up except the file I have on my desktop, which is the file I need put in place of the original one. I find it strange that the find did not find it. I know there has to be one.

Normal.dot is normally located in \Documents and
Settings\{username}\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. The Application
Data folder is typically hidden, which prevents the search process from
looking into it unless you you set the option to show hidden files and
folders. I recommend that everyone do that as a matter of course. It's
one of the first changes I make whenever I start up a newly installed
system.

Control Panel Folder Options View Advanced settings box Show
hidden files and folders
