Is there a viewer available for download to view Publisher files?
LPOWELL3 was very recently heard
to utter: Without having to purchase Publisher, is there a viewer available for download to view Publisher files? For Version 2000? For Version 2003? No. You can order the trial version of Publisher 2003, which is able to view Publisher files from all versions since 2.0 at http://www.microsoft.com/office/publ...nfo/trial.mspx -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher |

Is there a viewer available for download to view Publisher files?
Hi ,
With Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 and older, Microsoft has not created a Microsoft Publisher viewer, and currently there are no plans to develop one. Only Microsoft Publisher can open Publisher files. The only exception would be using Adobe Pagemaker 6.5 and newer to open Microsoft Publisher 97 and newer files. Work arounds include: -------------------- 1. Convert your Publisher file to PDF format. The recipient of your file would need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download). In order to convert your Publisher (any version) publication to PDF, you would need a 3rd party product similar to: a. Adobe Acrobat ($249) www.adobe.com b. primoPDF (Free) http://primopdf.com/ c. Win2PDF (Free) www.daneprairie.com d. GhostSript (Free) www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost e. JawsPDF Creator ($79) www.jawspdf.com 2. A graphic, such as jpeg, tif, gif, etc. (Publisher 2003, 2002, 2000, 98) 3. As an embedded html email. (Publisher 2003, 2002) 4. An mht file. (Publisher 2003, 2002, 2000, 98, 97) 5. As an html file. (Publisher 2003, 2002, 2000, 98, 97) You can find an article at the following link that explains how these workarounds can be done: http://www.microsoft.com/office/using/column16.asp -- Brian Kvalheim Microsoft Publisher MVP http://www.publishermvps.com This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Is there a viewer available for download to view Publisher fil
There is one other option that may (or may not) work. Many of us in this
newsgroup have Acrobat or another program to convert files to .pdf files. If you only have one or two files, and they don't contain proprietary information, you could try asking if someone would convert them for you. You wouldn't be able to edit the file but you'd be able to see it. Also, having .pdf software such as Acrobat or Primo only works if you can open the file. If you don't have Publisher, you can't make a .pub file a .pdf. (There's a subtle offer of help in there in case you missed it.) -- JoAnn Paules MVP Publisher "Brian Kvalheim [MSFT MVP]" wrote: Hi , With Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 and older, Microsoft has not created a Microsoft Publisher viewer, and currently there are no plans to develop one. Is there a viewer available for download to view Publisher files?
"LPOWELL3" wrote in message ... Without having to purchase Publisher, is there a viewer available for download to view Publisher files? For Version 2000? For Version 2003? I have been making business cards, bookmarks and greeting cards for people (learning as I go along). When I want to show them the design, since they don't have Publisher, I use Paint Shop Pro and do a screen capture of the open (in publisher) graphic, crop it to the right size, and save as a jpg. Of course, this would mean having a program like PSP that does screen captures. Actually I think there's a print screen key, that might do the same thing. There's also the idea of printing it and scanning it, to save as a file you can then email to anyone. I'm far from an expert on this, but it's what I've been doing. ~ Carrie |

You could also use the free MWSnap which will make an image file of any part
or all of what's displayed on your monitor. You can get MWSnap at: http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html -- Don ------- Vancouver, USA "Carrie" wrote in message ... PrimoPDF http://www.primopdf.com/ With your new program installed...open your project in Publisher and go to...File / Print. On your Print screen...open the drop window and select PrimoPDF as your printer. Click...OK...now you will see the PrimoPDF screen and you can browse to a save folder. When you click...OK..your .pdf file will be created in your save folder. The resulting .pdf file can be viewed on any computer that has the free Adobe Reader installed. -- John Inzer |

JoAnn
This is a very kind offer and, if you're willing, I'd be very grateful for a conversion. Would you want the file emailed to you directly? I wasn't sure I should take up space in this group by posting files here. Many thanks Kevin Lucas "JoAnn Paules - MVP Publisher" wrote: There is one other option that may (or may not) work.
