I apologize for the blank post, I have been having problems accessing this site through exceltip.com....keeps saying the forums are under construction. In any case, my question was whether it was possible to have Validation lists that are dependant on the other cell values. Basically I want to have the choices in my validation list in Cell B1 change if certain values are entered into Cell A1. Since the forums were down, I searched the site, and it seems if I wasnt to do this, I need to create a userForm or something like that which involves lots of VBA which I have never attempted... If there is a much easier method, please advise, thanks ------------------------------------------------ ~~ Message posted from http://www.ExcelTip.com/ ~~View and post usenet messages directly from http://www.ExcelForum.com/ |

Can you create Conditional Validation Lists?
Hi!
Try this little experiment: Construct a small lookup table, say G2:J12 with some random stuff in cols H,I,J and numbers 1 to 11 in col G. In A22 put =VLOOKUP(G2,$G$2:$J$12,$D$2,FALSE): copy down Now apply data validation to C2:C12: list is A2:A12. Finally put a number in D2: value 2,3 or 4 (because we have 4 cols in the lookup table). According to this number, your data validation will reflect the values in cols H, I and J respectively. It's a matter of replacing the values in col A with a chosen set from the table.
