How do I remove "read only" from multiple documents at one time
For some reason, most of my documents have "read only" on them. I don't know
how this is occuring, nor how to remove it without accessing each document one at a time. |

Did you copy them to your hard drive from a CD or are you reading them directly from a CD? Files on CD are always read-only. If they're on your hard drive, start Windows Explorer, browse to the folder where the files are stored, select all the files then rightclick and choose Properties. Remove the black or gray checkmark next to Read only and click OK Done. -- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ Featured Presenter, PowerPoint Live 2004 October 10-13, San Diego, CA www.PowerPointLive.com ================================================ |

Thanks, I was transfering updated documents via a CD-RW from my home to my
office computer. I was trying to cut from the CD-RW and paste to my hard drive. It wouldn't allow me to do that, but I could copy the files. I checked my hard drive and the files do not appear to be "read only" any longer. However, I am unable to remove the files from the CD-RW. Any suggestions. Any suggestions. Reformat the CD, perhaps? I don't really know. I never saw much use for R/Ws and never trusted 'em anyhow. See if the CD writing software allows it. -- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ Featured Presenter, PowerPoint Live 2004 October 10-13, San Diego, CA www.PowerPointLive.com ================================================ |

Basically, use Windows Explorer to select the file, rightclick, choose Properties, remove the check next to "Read only" Or open it in PowerPoint, choose File, Save As and save it to a new name. -- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ Featured Presenter, PowerPoint Live 2004 October 10-13, San Diego, CA www.PowerPointLive.com ================================================ |
