Choice and effect
From within A1 which contains the text Area 1;Area 2;Area
3; Area 4 I'd like C1 to display Area 1 if in B1 I enter 1. (Area 2 on entry of 2 in B1 etc.) From a response to a post a few weeks ago, I am trying to modify: =IF(B1="","",MID(SUBSTITUTE(A1,";",""),CHOOSE B1,1,3,5,7,9),2)) to include the text which resides in A1. I can get more than 5 entries to appear in C1 by adding to the list after CHOOSE but cannot get more than the 2 letters that the formula calls for (from the OP/response) to appear properly in C1. Any help is appreciated. Gerry |

Choice and effect
One way:
=MID(LEFT(A1,FIND("$",SUBSTITUTE(A1&";",";","$",B1 ))-1), IF(B1=1,1,FIND("$",SUBSTITUTE(A1,";","$",B1-1))+1),255) In article , "Gerry Kuta" wrote: From within A1 which contains the text Area 1;Area 2;Area 3; Area 4 I'd like C1 to display Area 1 if in B1 I enter 1.
