Is there a way to copy lines parallel? What I mean is to copy a line,
say .5 from the existing one. When you copy or duplicate it just
Visio just throws a new line out there. It would be nice if I could
tell it where to put it.

It is not really clear what you mean but once a line has been placed on the
page it can be copied by hovering over it and pressing the ctrl key then
use the left mouse button to drag and place the copy on the page. You will
notice that when it is working a visual clue of a plus sign will show above
the mouse pointer.
