Outlook 2000: Missing Contacts
I have (had) two "address books" listed under CONTACTS and use Outlook
Backup to make automaticcopies of the Outlook.pst file. The second address book showed as a sub-folder under the primary. I recently reformatted my computer (after saving files to an external drive) and note that the reinstalled and "restored" Outlook does not contain any account information (all log-on & connection info was lost) and the secondary address book is also gone. The GROUPs identified in the address book remain, however. Is this a known feature of Outlook 2000 or is there a toggle or switch I need to change? Regards, --LarryS |

As to the "address book", you'll have to tell us what that means. Outlook 2000 could use its Contacts folder, a Personal Address Book, or the WIndows Address Book for contact storage. What were you using? In what mode have you installed Outlook 2000? Where are you looking to see the addresses you no longer see? -- Brian Tillman |

I suspected that answer to the account information. My Outlook 2000 address books are in the Contacts Folder. I THOUGHT I had created a folder under (inside?) the Contacts folder where I created a listing of members for a car club (MBMGCC). I know that when I listed a member in the MBMGCC addresses, they were automatically removed from the general contact list, if they were duplicated. This list had a differently defined current view w/ some special user defined fields. What do you mean by "what mode have I installed Outlook 2000?" I have looked both in the Contacts folder and under Tools|Address Book (Ctrl + Shift + B) to find the missing addresses. --Larry |
