Default Using "select database record" on multiple shapes?

I used the "Link to Database" add-on. That worked fine. I can use "select
database record" and choose my record (in order to display a value). Again,
works fine.

My question is, how can I use "select database record" on my shapes at the
same time to select the same record for all shapes? If I drag and select a
bunch of shapes (all linked to the same database) and I select a record, on
the shape in the upper left actually changes its record.

Do I need to link the shapes together or something? Or some other trick?

Much thanks for any help.

Sorry that should read:

If I drag and select a bunch of shapes (all linked to the same database)
and I select a record, ONLY the shape in the upper left actually changes its
record.

Hmm .. it doesn't seem like I can select multiple shapes and "refresh shape
properties" either. Intuitively, that should refresh all shapes. But it
doesn't. Only one ever updates at a time.

Anyway of selecting multiples and saving time?
