I think I should just unistall office xp and try again. I assume that I can
export the calendar and email messages to a file and then import them into a brand new installation? I bought 2003 teacher student version which requires xp or 2000 loaded first. I have had both, so I can reload 2000 to a new directory and then install 2003 on top of it. (2000 was initially loaded on this computer before I upgraded to xp.) Do you think this will work? It was different for xp, but I figured it out.
???How can I get my inbox and deleted messages, from the old profile into the old one? I tried exporting and importing, but lost the date received field. I would like to keep this field.??? I was able to export and import the contacts OK. I exported and imported the calendar kinda OK (I lost the reoccuring feature). I used the comma separated windows option for export/import. Yes, you can delete the old profile.
Next time you need not import/export the PST file. In fact, you should not. That's the kind of thing that causes this problem in the first place. You simply configure the new profile to use your existing PST file. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "sandra" wrote in message ... Thanks for all your help! I think I finally got it! Outlook 2002:
- Go to Tools Options Mail Setup Data Files Add... - Add the PST you'd like as your new default, then Close OK to exit the Options dialog - Go to Tools E-mail Accounts View or change existing e-mail accounts - Select the PST you just added in the "Deliver New e-mail to the following location" dropdown (it will most likely appear just below the current default Personal Folders file) Finish - Exit and Restart Outlook - You can now close the previous default PST (R-click on that pst folder while in Folder View and select "Close foldername Folders"). If you have any information in your former PST that you'd like to transfer to your new default PST, you can drag and drop from one to the other before you close the old one. I get no message, but it doesn't fix the problem. 7 - I right click on "Outlook Today folder", choose "properties for outlook today" and get "personal folders properties". I choose "general", "advanced" and get this error message: "The information services cannot be configured. Either the information service does not possess properties required for configutation, or the MAPI configuration file entry point could not be determined." 8 - If I try to add a new contact folder, it also has the check box for "show this folder as an email address book" grayed out. 9 - I "repaired" XP office and this did not solve the problem. HELP!!!! Thank you. |
