Default "Contacts" are displayed incorrectly

When sending an email, I click "To" to get my contacts menu. I have set
"Contacts" to display "Last name, First name", which they do; But then on the
"To" menu, they are listed "First name Last name".

How do I make the "To" menu display consistent with the "Contacts" display?

Thank you.

The solution depends on knowing your Outlook version, which you decided
wasn't important enough to share. The solution for each Outlook version has
been posted here many times and Google Groups can help you find the prior
posts.

Despite that, I will heed your advice and look to other posts.

To your comment: "...which you decided wasn't important enough to share."
That's very nice. Thanks, Brian, for making a rookie feel welcomed. And
thanks, also, for taking just enough of your time to drip sarcasm.

Yeah, well, when you take your care to a mechanic, even when you were a
newbie driver, did you hand him (her?) the keys and say, "It's broken. Fix
it," and then just walk away? No. You knew even then that you had to give
as accurate a description of the symptons as you could. In fact, one of the
first things you probably told the mechanic was the model and year of your
car. Why would it be any different here?

It seems to me that a simple "what version do you have?" response is not
asking too much.

I guess that expecting people to post that information at the outset _is_
asking too much.
