Link Tables to Access data queries
Hi =?Utf-8?B?U2lk?=,
How can I link a table to access data query to be updated with any prior change data on query automatically upon opening the document of template. Is it possible to have query data updated when changes is made in table on word document. You can link a query or database table into a Word document, yes. Display the Database toolbar and use the Insert Database button. Going the other way, no, there's no way built into Word where you can make changes in a table and have them propagate back to a database. That would require VBA (programming - non-trivial) of some kind. Link Tables to Access data queries
Hi =?Utf-8?B?c2lk?=,
since I am new to programming could you be more specific and direct me with more detail or even an example please to to link a table or query from access to word. The first part I described in my other reply requires no programming. The second part is not something a person with no programming experience is gong to be able to handle, I don't think. And I know of no example, anywhere, that does exactly what you want so that you could simply make a couple of changes. The very basics of exchanging data between Word and Access are shown in the article WdAcc97.zip that you'll find in the "Special Merges" section of my website's mailmerge FAQ. It doesn't do anything with linking a table, but it does show how to pass data from Word back into an Access table. If you can get that to work, and understand what's going on, then the step to reading the data out of a table instead of a UserForm isn't too big...
