Default Contact Folders not showing up in Address Book in 2007 Outlook

I have tried everything I could to get my contact folders to appear in an
address book in Outlook 2007, from my Outlook 2003. I saved my entire outlook
files to a .pst and imported to the account in Outlook 2007. I have read
everything in Microsolt Online Help and it does not specifically address this
issue.
The properties of each contact folder does not allow me to(greyed out) set
this folder as an email address folder.
I am considering going back to Outlook 2003 but I've done this transfer on
others pc's from 2003 to a new acct 2003 and I still have this issue of the
contacts not showing in an address book.
I obviously am missing something in setting up that initial outlook
profile/account or have not saved the .pst correctly.

Please advise on the steps from export to import in setting up new outlook
accounts with already established address/contacts.

The proper way to do this is posted here daily. For starters, you never
transfer Outlook data using import and export.
If the option to set a folder as an email address book is grayed out, you
either haven't added the address book service to your profile or you
corrupted your profile by transferring data incorrectly.
Start over with a new Outlook profile. Use one of the correct methods for
data transfer. Then enable your Contacts Folder as an email address book.
If you are unable to read the other posts here, I'll repost the information
you've missed.

Here are mistakes one and two. First, you don't need to "save my entire
outlook files to a PST". Your PST is alreday available. No need to export
again. Just copy the *existing* PST another folder for safe-keeping. First,
you don't need to import a PST. Just open it in Outlook with
FileOpenOutlook Data File or in the Mail applet in Control Panel with the
Data Files button.

If you update properly from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007, none of this would
be necessary because the new Outlook would detect the prior mail profile and
simply reuse it. You'd have everything already in place the first time you
start the new Outlook.

I have read everything in Microsolt Online Help and it does not specifically
address this
issue.

You just need a new mail profile, pointing it at your existing PST. That will
recreate the Outlook Address Book service correctly and your Contacts folder
will be marked as an address book. Never export/import when moving data from
one Outlook instance to another.
