Distribution list creation
When I try to create a distribution list in Outlook 2003 ("File" to "New" to "Distribution List"), I get the "Name" and "Display Name" fields. I need to also have the company name. Any way to do that?
Is there any way to create a distribution list from the category list? Thank you. |

The DL interface cannot be configured.
Not sure why you need to create a DL if you already have categories configured. To create a DL from a category: Change the Contacts Folder View to by Category. Right click and drag the Category required to a newly created Contacts subfolder then choose Copy. Make sure the new subfolder has been enabled as an email address book by right clicking on it and choosing Properties Outlook Address Book Tab and check the box to enable as email address book. Create your new Distribution List and make sure the Show Names drop down field points to this new subfolder then shift select all the contacts and voila. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Ed" wrote in message ... Distribution list creation
Hi Russ - That's great, you just saved me lots of time
and trouble! You just turned me on to the contact subfolder concept - one question: are there any downsides to using subfolders for categorization rather than categories in the main folder? Thanks Again! -----Original Message----- The DL interface cannot be configured. Not sure why you need to create a DL if you already have categories configured. Some. It all depends on which functions you need more. Here's a comparison
of Categories VS Contact Subfolders: http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/oloabcat.htm -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Mojo Baer" wrote in message ...
