Default Pagination problem in TOC

One of my customers is having a problem with the Table of Contents in his
document--all the page numbers appear as page 2. He sent it as an email
attachment to several people. I can see the real page numbers, but other
people can't. Someone suggested this is a known problem with Word--can anyone
tell me how to fix it?

Default Pagination problem in TOC

This phenomenon is known to result from opening the document in Reading
Layout view. It can be prevented by disabling RL view and remedied by
updating the TOC (with F9) after switching to another view.
