Default I hate the ribbon -- bring the menus back!

Is it possible to see a ribbon, not by clicking, but by hovering over the
tabs ?

I am curious about that comment you made on changing the font - would you
mind expanding on this? Which font were you unable to change?

That sounds great. I hated the GUI for Office 2007 beta. I don't really
have to have Office though. Word I do consider essential so someone should
make this toolbar toggle for Word 2007 also for those who just have Word
or Works Suite. I could not get used to Word 2007. It was horrible. So, I
went back to Works Suite 2006 which has Word 2002 and I won't be upgrading
as long as that awful GUI is there and as long as I cannot use the font of
my choice.

Not as far as I know - however, when you click back into the document the
ribbon automatically minimises again...

Third parties are already solving the problem that Microsoft should never
have created in the first place. I hope the next service pack solves the
problem so I don't have to buy a $30 fix to my brand new program.

"JoAnn Paules [MVP]" wrote:

I wish that were true but it's not going to happen. The basic problem is
that there ware too many new and existing commands to fit within the "old"
menu styles.

It will change with the first service pack of Office2007 after they
realize how stupid they were for doing this.

I am a first-time Office 2007 user, and as such, I hate some of the
changes
I'm seeing. Perhaps that's a normal first reaction to Office 2007, and
perhaps I'll grow to prefer it. But for now, it appears I'm forced to
waste
valuable screen real estate staring at the outrageous ribbon bar that
often
doesn't even have the functionality that I'm looking for. At least with
Office 2003 with its regular menus I could click on one entry and hover
my
mouse around the others until I find what I'm looking for. And of course
I
could customize the toolbars to my liking, maximizing my available
screen
real estate. If I can do with the the ribbon, then it just isn't
obvious.

Please fix the interface. I had to spend 10 minutes just to figure out how
to save my first file. You wasted your money on the focus groups.

Then I suggest you take your computer back to where you bought it and swap
it for a gameboy.

I don't know. I was very used to seeing the word File in the top left. Why
change it for some messy blob of coloured squares? Language is a damned
fine invention and does not need un-inventing. Likewise, why replace the
word Help with a small question mark in a circle? Too many pointless
changes.

And why does printing sheets of labels for Xmas have to be re-learnt every
year?! These things are meant to serve us, not the other way round.

The "Save" icon is on the QAT by default - there's no need to hunt for
anything! Certainly if it takes TEN MINUTES to recognise the international
sign for "Save" then the OP really is a bit thick.

My suggestion to you is to download the beta version of the next Office or
any new Microsoft product and give Microsoft feedback. Without feedback
they won't have any idea what the public's likes and dislikes are. Would
you buy a brand new make and model car without test driving or researching
it first? Didn't think so... Now stop your crybaby bitching and go back to
Office 98!

Now now. Do not descend to insulting someone who disagrees with you.

What is the "international sign" for save? Some use a picture of a little
floppy disk! Hey ho.

And yes, I do give feedback.

I just did.

Most do. And that's what is on the QAT by default.
