Default update one field of a table related to another

Hello,

I am creating a database for employee timekeeping. I have forms and subforms
with tabs which have each employees time off and medical days off etc. I want
to update one field in a subform based on another field from another table. I
know this is possible but I dont know how . I have created a tabbed subform.
please help me.

Well, Joe, chances are pretty good you didn't set up your tables
properly to allow you to do this. On the off chance I'm wrong, the
tables should update themselves if you've linked the parent and child
forms properly.

If your tables aren't set up optimally, you have a better chance
performing your own triple-bypass with a magnifying glass and a butter
knife than you do of ever completing this task the way you envision it.
