Default what does a blue 1 indicator on contacts mean? like newmessage

I have a indicator on the contacts folder like you would see in inbox for new
messages.
What does this mean?

It means the same in Contacts as it does in any other folder: there's a new
item in the folder.

select all the Contacts and right click, then Mark as Read.
