Excel & hyperlinks
How do I opt out of the automatic creation of hyperlinks in
Excel? I know how to remove them once they are created, but I don't want to have to do that. Instead, I want the default to be that Excel just treats it as text, and not a URL or email address. How do I do that? Thanks. |

Excel & hyperlinks
Hi!
For XL2002/2003 you can turn this feature off in Tools/Autocorrect. For other versions, see JE's instructions: http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/e...yperlinks.html and http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/e...perlinks2.html He's written from a MacXL perspective, but the concepts translate easily to WinXL. Excel & hyperlinks
Hi Jim,
I personally find it a lot easier to just let then get created then run a macro to eliminate the hyperlinks from the selection area(s). This way if you actually want them they aren't automatically removed. The other methods do nothing to stop them from being created they simply remove them once created. Build Table of Contents, similar listings, working with Hyperlinks Removing object hyperlinks from a Cell or cell range (#DelHyperlinks) http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel...#DelHyperLinks, Use of a single name as an anonymous poster or different names in postings and replies, and from one thread to another will not help you find your postings and threads later on in the newsgroups archives Even with two names before the anonymous portion, there may be others with the same fake email address, but at least it will narrow the range in finding your own postings and their threads. http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/xlnews.htm -- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP - Excel [site changed Nov. 2001] My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm Search Page: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/search.htm "Jim" wrote in message ...
