How to get rid of a workgroup .mdw file
Open Access and login as a user with administer permissions then open your
file. In your file grant full permissions to all objects to the Users group. Close Access and then open using the default System.MDW workgroup file. You might need to use the workgroup administrator to re-join that group first. Open a new empty file and then use File - Get External Data to import all objects from your original file. The resulting file will be identical to one that never had security. All of your users will need to rejoin System.MDW as their default if that is not already the case. Thx and Cheers. S.K. How to get rid of a workgroup .mdw file
You cannot get rid of user-level security, including the mdw file. It is
always working in Access 2003 and earlier (and Access 2007 when it is used to create databases in Access 2003 format), but it is effectively no security until you configure it. Go to Tools Security Workgroup Administrator. If it shows the default workgroup as System.mdw you may be OK. If not, locate System.mdw and join that workgroup. If it is System.mdw already, close the Workgroup Aministrator dialog and open Tools Security User and Group Accounts. On the Users tab, locate the Admin user and clear the password. Close and reopen Access. If you are prompted for a password, click OK without entering anything. After that you should be OK, but a lot depends on how you protected the database. If you are still having problems, describe the steps you took to implement security. "Anatoly Kurilin" wrote in message ... Hi, some time ago I protected my database with a workgroup file .mdw.
