Auto Assign a Category to a Calendar Item?
Was trying to find out if someone had a macro or could walk me through making
one that would allow me to auto-assign a category based upon specific text in the subject of an calendar entry? I know about "Automatic Formatting" but it only assigns a "color" not a category? Thanks! James Dasher |

Forgot to mention that I am using Outlook 2007, though I think that is the
only version with this feature anyway? Auto Assign a Category to a Calendar Item?
I know that autoformatting is view based, and not part of the appointment on
the calendar. What I want to be able to do is create an appointment that say starts with "IMP:" and have a macro or rule or something read that and know to add that appointment to the "Important" category. I have several like that...so I want to be able to define categories based upon the intro "code" in the name of an appointment and get the category of the appointment set, so that if I view "By Category" it is in the appropriate list. James P.S. I've been to OutlookCode.com but all I see are examples for 2003 and lower, I believe that 2007 changed how categories work? Actually, OL 07 didn't change how categories work. It added colors and changed where they're stored, that's it. Additionally, now you can access the Master Category List via the object model. -- Viele Gruesse / Best regards Michael Bauer - MVP Outlook The Tool for Outlook Categories: http://www.vboffice.net/product.html?id=2006063&cmd=detail&lang=en&pub=6 Am Tue, 16 Oct 2007 10:10:00 -0700 schrieb James Dasher: I know that autoformatting is view based, and not part of the appointment on the calendar.
