file damaged
Hi,
my Outlook (2003) crashed and has to be terminated with Ctr-Alt-Del. At the same time Publisher (XP) was open but could then be terminated normally without any error message. But it did damage my publisher file. Now I cannot open my publisher file, trying to open results in error message "Publisher cannot open the file" (originally in german: "publisher kann die datei nicht öffnen"). Any advice for me how to repair my file? Thanks. Regards Robert Medlitsch -- www.MittenImDritten.at Ein-, Aus-, Rück- und Seitenblicke aus 1030 Wien |

I also tried open the file on another pc with another publisher version (2003). Unfortunately none of these methods did work but "recover the text in the publication". By the fact that my text comes from word documents and is layouted by me in publisher it is not a thing that is really helpful for me. What means that my text is already existing but the work I did is away. Any other advice for me? Is there any possibility to find a temporary file on my computer? regards Robert Medlitsch -- www.MittenImDritten.at Ein-, Aus-, Rück- und Seitenblicke aus 1030 Wien |

You can look, in Windows Explorer, type %temp% in the address bar, look for any
file with a pub prefix, change the .tmp to .pub. Good luck... -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Robert Medlitsch" wrote in message ... I guess your only solution is to reconstruct the file. Can you see the file in
the preview where you open files in your default Publisher folder? Maybe you can do a screen capture with the print screen key. Snagit can do this, there is an evaluation download. www.techsmith.com Great program. -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Robert Medlitsch" wrote in message ... I assume snagit wouldn't help in this situation.. bye Robert |
