Default Font question

Mary,

I've just now e-mailed her to find out what version of Office/Publisher she
has. As I had mentioned, I have 2003.

It's strange that I didn't get that message the last time she sent me the
newsletter to proofread a couple of months ago.

These Office products installed your font. Not all Tw Cent MT are created
equal.

Joy,

When she has the file open in Publisher she can ID the font. Once she
knows the name of the font she can close Publisher and go to
C:\Windows\Fonts find the font and attach it to an email to you.

Once you get the font file you then place it in C:\Windows\Fonts folder.

The file in the Windows\Font file may have a slightly different name but
double clicking on it will reveal its name as seen in Publisher.

Don, I don't know if she'd know how to do that, nor do I know how to
tell
her to do it.

Ask her for a copy of the font file.

I have Office 2003, including Publisher. I proofread our
organization's newsletter when the editor e-mails it to me. Once
before I got a message in Publisher that I didn't have a font she used,
so I found it online and downloaded it. Now I am getting a similar
message, but cannot find such a font. The Publisher message says:

The font information below shows what fonts are embedded in your
publication or are unavailable.

Font Name - 20th Century Font
Font Type - Unknown
Status - Unavailable

It suggests a Font substitution, but that won't help on her end, as we
need to be "on the same page".

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Default Font question

Joy,

What makes the difference if you have the font or not? You are
proofreading, not printing. So what if another font is being
substituted, as long as the spelling and grammar are correct? The other
person ought to be able to see if the layout is correct, just in case
whatever font is being substituted changes the layout a bit.

Default Font question

Mike,

Good question, but the way we've been doing it, is I make the corrections in
my copy and she uses that (after I send it back to her). Seems to be easier
for her than her making the changes/corrections I tell her about. Also that
way I have the correct copy in my own file for future use, as sometimes I
might send it to someone else. And there was one page this time where a
word was cut off in my version, but she said it wasn't in hers, and I'm
thinking it may have had something to do with the missing font.
