problems with forms and reports
I have a problem that suddenly developed. I have been putting together a
data base for our company. I have a form that I enter data on and then a report for specific parts of that data to print out. Suddenly the change of data in the forms does not show up on the reports. Saving changes, refreshing has done nothing. I've looked at the property sheets and can find nothing. In a print out of the application I find DataUpdatable: False. I can't find any place where I can change this. Am I on the right track or am I just barking up the wrong tree? -- Joe |

problems with forms and reports
There are 3 reasons that data would not be updateable.
1. No permissions 2. Query is not updateable 4. Form is set to not allow edits. Usually, a user will be playing around and cause the second or third reason. As far as queries not being updateable, look at the form's underlying data and see if you can add a record. Look at the form's property sheet to see if edits are allowed. If it's none of those reasons, there is a good chance that the form may be corrupted. In that case: First, always work on a copy of the database. Working on the original may make it impossible for a repair service to fix it. Decompile your database: http://www.trigeminal.com/usenet/usenet004.asp Download a copy of JetComp.exe: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;273956 Try backing up your forms as text with the undocumented SaveAsText LoadFromText functions: http://www.datastrat.com/Code/DocDatabase.txt Also have a look at the Microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;209137 Then have a look at Tony Toews' Access Corruption FAQ at: http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm for some suggestions. Unfortunately, some corruption cannot be fixed - you may need to create a new database, import what can be salvaged, and recreate the rest. Although it's a paid service, Peter Miller does an outstanding job of saving corrupt databases. Thank you. This gives me a direction to follow. I'll be away from the
office for a few days but will look into this as soon as possible. I'll post after I've tried this. -- Joe "Arvin Meyer MVP" wrote: There are 3 reasons that data would not be updateable. 1.
