Default autofit catalog merge area for catalog merge

I would like to use the catalog merge area to merge rows of data into a
brochure. The amount of data in each row may vary so I'd like the catalog
merge area to autofit as it merges, as opposed to having large blank areas
for some merged cells and truncated text in others. Any ideas?

You could convert the brochures into a publication in step 5 and adjust the areas.

There are very good articles that explain the catalog merge.
