Default problem using animated tempaltes

I have read and re-read Austiin Myers artical on Powerpoint and Video
but the problem i have has ne stumped.

I am using O/S - Win XP and Office suite 2003

I have acquired a couple of animated pot files with the avi files (and

yes they are all in the same folder as the ppt file i am creating)

The animations just don't work and when i pres F5 they disappear only
to leave a black patch where the avi ius supposed to play. The master
slide custom animation shows play after previous, stop playing after
this slide and repeat (animation) until end of slide

There is no question about having necessary codecs as they are in
uncompressed avi format and for safety i have installed the NImo codec
pack too)

I have checked the avi files and avicodec program reports the follwing.

Video : 1.45 MB, 4066 Kbps, 15.0 fps, 92*92 (1.0:1), DIB =
Microsoft DIB, Not checked
(I do not know what 'not checked means)

Gspot reports
Codec: 4CC - DIB (_RGB)
Name: BI_RGB Raw Bitmap
Stat: No codec neded

Next i tried to insert the avi file itself into a new PPT file but the
file does not play. It is not a long path name as i tested using root
drive folder

Next i compressed the avi file using cinepak codec and substituted the
same name - now the pot file animation plays when opened and so does
the file when inserted into a ppt.
I can convert all the avi files but this will require effort and
renaming, resubstitution and a los of quality

I just can't figure out what and why all this is happening nut i do
think i am missing a simple trick here. - I am quite familar with
computers and have high knowledge of powerpoint and its working

BTW the videos play perfectly well when i call up the
MCI player (rmplay32.exe) and windows media player 10

You can check the information at http://www.echosvoice.com/tshoot_video2.htm
Maybe you have a hardware or software conflict.

If I were in your shoes, I'd just download and install Austin's PFCMedia,
let it convert your files, and be done with it. http://www.pfcmedia.com
(Much easier than banging your head against the wall.)
