Default Office 2003 SP1 will not install

Hi,

I have been attempting to install SP1 on a desktop computer and every single
time I get this error

A REQUIRED INSTALLATION FILE SKU0A4.CAB COULD NOT BE FOUND

I un-installed and then re-installed the whole suite including Frontpage, I even
downloaded the whole installation for SP1, and I still get this error, and when
I tried the same thing with my laptop everything went smoothly

What can I do to fix this

Thank you in Advance

Merci a l'Avance

Martin

I have the same problem. The file is in the installation CD but not anywhere on the desktop PC. I looked in a laptop and the file is not there either but the installation went without a hitch. I downloaded the latest web components, as indicated in the error message, and still no luck.

Similar problem but I'm missing sku111.cab. I have searched the
installation disks and it simply isn't there.

You're correct to complain! This may not make you happy, but I uncovered
this issue yesterday and posted about it. I have 2 copies of Office 2003 Pro
at home. I thought that I only had one copy of the program. When I first ran
into this problem, I went to the one copy I had and looked on the CD. That
sku111.cab file was NOT on the disk. Later, I found the other copy of the
program and guess what? SKU111.cab is on that version of the disk! Nothing
on the packaging tells me what the difference is between the 2 versions, but
on the disks themselves, the one that doesn't work also has the following
words: "Home Use Program". The disk that does work doesn't mention these
words.

Good luck!

Martin, see the information in the KB article at
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;875556. Office 2003
includes a new Setup feature called the Local Install Source which copies
the installation files to the local hard drive. If you insert the CD when
prompted, SP1 installation will complete successfully. The benefit of
having the installation files on your local hard drive is that you'll never
be prompted to insert the CD again.

Richard, if you have multiple Office 2003 products installed, you should
uninstall the one that you don't need. Overlapping Office products will
cause future problems for you.

Assuming that you find the file you need on the CD where do you copy it to.

Assuming that you find the missing CAB file on the CD, where do you copy the file. I tried copying it in several places in the Office 2003 folder and it did not solve the problem
