It seems the term is used more in Europe than in the US.

Yep. I've known for a long time what a CV is (as would most people over
the age of 14), but it took me much longer to find out what this
mysterious "resume" (pronounced by me the same was as the verb) that
Works and later Word offered me was.

And I'd learned what a CV was after I started reading the newsgroups back in
the mid-90's. Considerably older than your 14 yrs. ;-)
