Why doesn't Word 2002 save my table format changes?
I am using a master document with templates and I would like to change the
format of only a few tables in the document without changing the template. When I change the table format (i.e. remove borders), then save and reopen the document, the borders reappear. Is there a way to override this automatic formatting? I unchecked all of the options in the table autoformatting dialogue box but this did nothing. There is an option for saving formatting in such items as a TOC but I have not seen the option for ordinary tables. Does anyone know how to override the automatic changes? I have a similar problem with style formatting. I found that upon reopening my document some of my caption styles had been changed so I changed them back. When I save and reopen the document, however, they just go back to the way that MS Word 2002 changed them before (The automatically reverted to style is not the style specified originally nor is it the style specified in my template, by the way). Is there a way to prevent these changes? If so, it must be similar to the solution to my first question. Thanks in advance to anyone who may offer help. |

Hi =?Utf-8?B?c3R1cGlmaWVkX2Fib3V0X3RhYmxlX2JvcmRlcnM=?=,
The Master doc feature is somewhat unstable, but there is one thing you want to check before worrying about a damaged document: Tools/Templates and Addins. There's a checkbox near the top of the dialog box for updating styles automatically. Make sure this is NOT checked and see if things settle down.
