Default "auto-add" address/contact feature

How do I turn off the "auto-add" address/contact feature? I have too many
one-time addressees. My contacts list is overflowing with names and addresses
I'll never use again.

ARe you using Outlook 2000 Internet Mail Only? If yes, then go to
tools-options-email options-advanced (doing this from memory) and uncheck
the option to add people you reply to your contacts.

Thanks for the reply...I should have added that I am a new user to Outlook
2003.

So, it's the auto add feature in 2003 Outlook that I want to disable.

No such feature exists. Explain what makes you think it does. Outlook 2000
IMO was the only version that had such a feature.

Fred,

Perhaps you referring to the autocomplete function of OL 2003. If so, you
can highlight the individual entry that appears when you begin typing a name
into the To: field and press the delete key. Repeat this process for all
unwanted entries.

If you're looking for a commerical product that will let you manage the
autocomplete file, we wrote one at www.ingressor.com
