The default path to your pst file is C:\Documents and
Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
You have to enable "show hidden files and folders" in the folderoptions!

Have you empty your deleted Item Box?
Have you installed any Addons?
How big is your PST File?

default location: C:\Documents and Settings\{Your User Name here}\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

XP considers pst files to be hidden so in Windows Explorer you will have to
enable hidden files.

Have you tried compacting the pst file(s)?

thanks for any help

Hello Gordon, you wrote on Thu, 25 Aug 2005 12:55:21 +0100:

enable hidden files.

pst-files are _not_ hidden by default. Only the default folder, in which
the file is stored, is an hidden folder, so the windows search is not
able to find files (hidden or not hidden) which are are stored in it.

1. http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/filepath.htm
2. hard to say - most common cause is that it is scanning your pst for
problems because it didn't close properly.
