Most of the major Internet Service Providers offer spam protection as
part of their email service (Yahoo, AOL, etc). If you have a private net or
a small ISP, you can purchase a variety of spam filtering software.
Unfortunately, I've not yet seen any freeware for spam protection. Use the
search engine of your preference and look for "free software spam" which
might return some web sites. Just remember, "you get what you pay for."

The best approach to deal with Spam is first to make sure as few as
possible spam ends up in your mail box. Once it is there, whatever
program you use, you will end up spending a significant amount of time
sorting it out.

Over a year ago, I opened an account with www.cesmail.net and changed my
regular email to . Cesmail a.k. spamcop does the
filtering for me and does it remarkably well. When I used to get 50
spams, I now get 1, which I report to Spamcop. Cost $30.00 per year,
well worth it.
