How do I ensure I have the latest version of speech recognition?

Hi Roy,

There is only one version of MS Speech that
ships with MS Office 2003 English language edition.

MS Speech as a Windows product may have other updates
http://microsoft.com/speech
and there are 3rd party products that have enhancements
not available in the basic features in Office 2003.
http://scansoft.com has Dragon Naturally speaking, for
example.
