Jump from Blank screen to slide N during presentation
This is an enhancement request for use when projecting song lyrics during
church service... What about enabling the user to jump directly to another slide while you have a black screen or white screen? So after hitting, B or PERIOD Display a black screen, or return to the slide show from a black screen W or COMMA Display a white screen, or return to the slide show from a white screen enable the user to jump immediately to another slide N. For example I am on slide 12, I goto black screen, then I hit 13 and enter so that I don't have to show slide 12 again. In other words enable the jump to slide shortcut key while black screen or white screen is on. This would be much better than inserting blank slides in between each song... |

You have something against blank slides? Why?
It sounds like you have embraced the blackout key more strongly than I shun it. I have yet to use it in any of the hundreds of church services I've built and run. I don't use it for the exact reason you state: you can't come out of it smoothly or, for that matter, go into it smoothly. By adding a blank slide at the end of your hymn text, you can transition into the end instead of suddenly shutting it off. Then, because you are not in a blackout (you are in a blacked out slide, big difference), you can jump to any slide you want without showing any used text. A blank slide adds almost no size to the presentation (usually much less than 1k) and can give you the effect you want. I'd strongly recommend this technique over the one you are currently using. -- Bill Dilworth Microsoft PPT MVP Team =============== Please spend a few minutes checking vestprog2@ out www.pptfaq.com This link will yahoo. answer most of our questions, before com you think to ask them. Once upon a time PPT DID work the way you would like it to. That was
back in the glorious days of the PPT3 viewer. Somewhere around PPT95 or 97 it got broken, as far as I see it. I've been using PPT for surtitles for opera and theatre for almost 10 years now, and in many ways, the old PPT3 viewer is still the best, as I've expounded on before. And we sometimes still use. In a few weeks as a matter of fact. The use of the "B" key is most useful in rehearsals, where they jump back and forth. But since I operate from right beside the projector, I have a piece of cardboard handy to flip in front to block the image. Sometimes it is easier to hit the "B", and then block the projector and jump to the next slide. Having blank slides built in is handy, but occasionaly you don't have time. The first time we got to use PPT97 (someone else's choice) was for a theatre piece, where they didn't, and wouldn't, indicate where blanks should be for pauses. It was most annoying to see the previous slide flash for a moment before advancing to the next slide. Have you sent a request to mswish? Perhaps it is time for a concentrated campaign. Since I'm a simple-minded sort, I'd put the blank at the beginning of the presentation. Even *I* can remember "1 Enter" (no matter what slide I'm on and no matter which presentation).
