Default Outlook Contacts

Hi
I'm running Outlook 2007 with a fair number of contacts, distribution lists
and so on. Recently, an irritating phenomenon has started.
If I add a new contact, save and close, when I look for that contact, it
doesn't display. However, outlook knows it's there, as if I go new
message/to, the contact is there.
Any suggestions?

Press Ctrl+6. How many contacts folders do you see? If you open the
"Contacts" folder, does your contact not appear?
