hi community
how can I prevent the Document Map task pane from being display whenever I click the New Blank Document button from the Standard Toolbar. The Document Map always displayed out whenever I request a new blank documnet. I tried saving a new blank document as Normal.dot but it is of no use. Went into the Tools Options......but cannot find any button to turn it off. can anybody kindly assist me in this?????? thanks community for the help. -- oldLearner57

anything, though, go in and rename Normal.dot and let Word create a new one; you can't create Normal.dot yourself (especially by saving a blank document), so you have just made matters worse. -- Suzanne S. Open the normal.dot template (not by clicking on it, that just gives
you a new document), close the Document Map, type a character in the template and delete it, and then close & save the template. That should do it.
