Reading Pane is OFF in Folders, but RIGHT in New. I want RIGHT .

I have no idea what I did, but now my folders want to open with the pane off,
and I want it to open with pane right. My incoming file works fine, all are
pane right, but soon as I select a folder I get pane off. I know how to go
to view and select pane right, but even then if I close and re-open, it is
pane off.
A fix would be great.
