Default Converting from 97 to 2000

Hello,

I have an existing database in 97 version that was split into front and back
end with security in place.
Now that all users have 2000 version and I am in the process of modifying
the database also. I want to convert to 2000 version, hence have several
questions.

The thing is while I converted to 2000 and working on modifying the front
and back end, users continue entering data in the 97 version. Once I am done
with the 2000 version modification, how do I update the data in the BE from
97 version to my 2000 version before I distribute out to users? Thanks

Assuming you didn't need to make any changes to the back end, just make sure
everyone is offline and convert the current version of the back end to A2K
at the time you replace the A97 fe with the A2K fe.

Hi Pat,

Unfortunately, I had to make some changes to the back end also.

Then there's no easy way. Either make the same changes to the production
be. Or empty the modified be of data and import the data from the
production be. In any case, this will take some time. Schedule this time
with the users so they know the application will be unavailable. If the
databases are in their own directory, I would rename the directory, just to
make sure that no one can open the fe or be while you're working on it. If
the changes (and testing) are going to take more than a half hour, it would
be best to make the change in the evening or over the week end.
