Hyperlinks sporadically work in Outlook 2003

Our office just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to 2003. The
insert link option has been replaced with hyper linking.
However, we are finding that either Outlook or Exchange
(2003) most of the time will strip the hyper linking out
of emails once they have been sent. There seems to be no
rhyme or reason to when it strips the linking. In the
same email there could be three hyperlinks to files on
the network and it will remove two and the third one will
work. Thoughts?
