Default "leave copy of messages..." option missing for hotmail accounts

I want to tell Outlook 2007 to leave a copy of my emails on the hotmail
servers. But the More Settings/Internet E-Mail Settings window for my hotmail
accounts has only two tabs: General, Connection

This E-Mail Settings window for my non-hotmail accounts has two additional
tabs: Outgoing Server and Advanced; and it is in the Delivery section of the
Advanced tab that one can select: "Leave a copy of messages on the server"

But seeing that this Advanced tab doesn't exist for the hotmail account
settings, how do I tell Outlook to leave a copy on those accounts?

Have you checked your settings in Hotmail?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Stovo asked:

OK, I seem to have found the answer.

The non-hotmail accounts, at least those that I use, are all POP3 accounts.
The default setting for POP3 is to delete the message once it has been
downloaded. That is why the option exists in Outlook not to delete messages
from these accounts.

Hotmail, on the other hand, uses a HTTP server, and this type of account
does not delete downloaded messages.

Thanks for the input.
