Input Mask not working ?

Hi,
I have an input mask on a text field in an access 2000 table, which is very
simple
LL\ 00\ LLL (Three groups of characters, 1st letters, 2nd numbers, 3rd
letters.)
This is supposed to make sure all characters are entered in upper case, and
the 1st two characters are letters A-Z, the middle two characters are
numbers 0-9, and the final group of three characters are letters A-Z However
I can still enter a number in any of the three fields, when using a form to
add data to the the table. What am I doing wrong ? If I open the table
directly, the mask does work correctly, and does prevent me entering numbers
in the L fields and vice versa.
Access help states that the input mask should work if entering data into a
table via a form.
I can fix it by entering another input mask into the field into the form in
the form design view, but I can't see why I need to ?

This sort of problem usually occurs if you construct the form and then go back and change the input mask property of the original table.

I'm betting that if you reconstructed that form from scratch, everything would function adequately.

That's probably has happened. Do you really have to create a new form to get
over it ?

Try adding the input mask to the control on the Form. No, you shouldn't have
to recreate your form.

When you create a control on a form either through the form wizard or by dragging the field from the Field List in design view, certain properties from the table field are copied into the control. The Input Mask is one of these. If one of these properties is changed later in the table field, it won't also be changed on the form control automatically, but you can manually change the form control property. Also, if you create the control using the Toolbar and then set the control source manually, the the properties from the table field will not be copied automatically, but can be set manually.

So you can either set Input Mask on the control manually, or delete the old control and drag it from the Field List, or create a new form...whatever you prefer. But now you know what to expect.
