Unable to access Yahoo account
I believe I have set up correctly a Yahoo account to work alongside my
ntlworld account on OE. However on clicking the send/receive button the ntlworld account is scanned for messages OK and when it tries the Yahoo account I get a window 'Logon-pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk' Please enter your username and password for the following server. pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk The user fields are already filled in CORRECTLY. I click OK and the window momentarily disappears and then returns. the associated explanation says "There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92" I emphasise the username and password are those I set the account up with. Any ideas you have will be much appreciated. Thanks |

Unable to access Yahoo account
Hi John,
When Yahoo offered free POP3 access in the U.S. there was a requirement to fill out a personal information sheet. This was call Yahoo Delivers. That could be, John. The form to fill out (if it exists) would be at the

Unable to access Yahoo account
Thank's Vanguard but I think i'm doing right. I have used Yahoo.co.uk all
along. My mail sent from my NTL account to Yahoo account is received and forwarded back to my NTL account which I think is what I want, the only problem is i'm unaware of which account the sender will have sent to - a feature I really would like. When I tried to set up a similar system with Hotmail, it created it's own folders, a feature that has not happened with Yahoo! It doesn't appear that I have any way of sending via Yahoo using OE. I really would like to keep all my E Mails both i/c & o/g 'under one roof'. "*Vanguard*" wrote in message ... Unable to access Yahoo account
Try activating troubleshooting logging for Mail
(Alt-T,O,Ctrl-Backtab,M) That should show you what OE is trying and what it is seeing. Then simulate the same sequence using telnet from a command window. One possibility is that the initial connection is slow being set up. If that's the case you might be lucky and be able to make a second connection while the telnet one is still in evidence (e.g. using netstat -a) BTW are you trying to send at the same time? It might be an idea to try a separate Receive only, to test for the possibility that the SMTP connection is somehow interfering. netstat -a could show differences between such tests too. For that matter a quickly repeating monitor could yield some clues: netstat -asop tcp 5 Press Ctrl-c to terminate the loop. (The o switch is not available for all OS. Drop it if yours makes a fuss.) Another thing to consider is that some POP3 servers want the IP address to be in the range of the ISP that is providing the service (e.g. to make it less likely that users from anywhere can log on and take over that user's mail box.) This seems unlikely in the case of Yahoo but it would explain your symptom if the IP address was from your ISP. Certainly, I think it would be a likely explanation if the situation were reversed, e.g. you were having difficulty with your other account while using another ISP's IP address. As others have explained I think the cause of your problem is likely that you simply haven't registered properly for this service. You may have a valid Yahoo account and password but that might only be working so far in a webmail mode. The sequence of events for a POP3 authentication is first to prompt for userid and password. In your case both would be valid so they couldn't reply with a more common message which said that they were invalid so if they still didn't want to let you proceed they would have to block your access using another message such as the one you are getting. However, instead of the link that they are showing you perhaps they could be showing you this: http://help.yahoo.com/help/uk/mail/pop/pop-10.html (Google web search for yahoo uk pop3 ) Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- "John King" wrote in message ...
