Default Office 2003 Install

I just purchased a new computer with a 60 day trial
version of Office 2003 on it. I also purchased Office
2003 Student/Teacher edition. The Operating system is XP
Home

When I load the CD, I do not get what the manual describes
under step-by-step installing. What I do get is a screen
that says Office11 (f at the top followed by a number of
folders:
OWC11
Setup
STD11n
OWC10
Readme
Readme

This is not a typical CD step-by-step install process that
I have ever seen.

I suspect that somehow the trial version is affecting the
installation process. Any help would be appreciated, I
certainly I have not received any from Microsoft (Is it
just me or has Microsoft given a whole new meaning to the
term Support?)

It is just you.

Uninstall the Trial Version first and then install the STE. Setup is
detecting that you already have Office installed so it is displaying the
contents of the CD rather than beginning the setup routine.

Sorry, Milly, after playing around with MS support site for=20
two days without being able to contact anyone. It isn't=20
just me.

The site is poorly designed by a technical staff that=20
pre-supposes that their customers understand their jargon.=20
It is slow, messy and using Explorer hard to read. My=20
favorite feature are the circular links that one follows=20
only to end up right back where you started, having=20
received no information during the journey.

Even this discussion group approach is elementary in its=20
design.

By the way, I contacted HP support yesterday afternoon and=20
received a personal e-mail within one hour with the answer.=20
Too bad they don't produce software.

Take care
