Default Excel 2007 Save a New File or Save As

When trying to save, the diaglogue box opens but there is no "file name" box
in which to give the file a name.

Excel may be able to repair itself (as this sounds like a possibly corrupted
installation).

Click Excel's Office button, then
Click the [Excel Options] button at the lower right of the pane that opens.
Choose the "Resources" group and then run the Diagnostics. Hopefully Excel
will discover the problem and repair itself for you.
