Importing pst files from another pc
I have an old laptop running Office 97 which I have just formatted and
rebuilt. When I try to import pst files from my desktop I get a dialogue box saying 'File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file' (pst files on a cd rom from my desktop) I am running Office 2003 on my desktop and 97 on the laptop. I had the same problem when I tried to tranfer pst files from my old desktop to the current one which both ran Office 2003. I had to rebuild my address book in the end and lost my messages altogther. I am the sole user of all machines and am the administrator |

Any file that's been on a CD becomes read only.
Remove that attribute. Why are you importing this file? It is an Outlook file. Just open it. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bernie" wrote in message ... Thanks Russ, but how do I remove the attribute on a CD-R. Before recording
with Nero? If I try to open the PST file I get a message asking me to choose a programme to open it but none of them will do so. You must move the file to a hard drive. Then R click Properties.
PST files can only be opened from within Outlook, never from Windows Explorer. File Open... -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bernie" wrote in message ... Then you have left something out of your story. If this is a file you
created in Outlook 2003, it cannot be opened in earlier versions unless you had expressly created the file in the old format (File New Outlook Data File Outlook 97-2002 format). Exporting a file from Outlook 2003 will always create a file incompatible with earlier versions. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bernie" wrote in message ...
