Maintaining colors of Drawing Tools objects
I have a very large collection of "Drawing Objects" created in MS PowerPoint
2003. In most cases, there are multiple graphics saved as a file with only one slide. Having moved up(?) to MS PowerPoint 2007 I decided to save all my old files in the new .pptx format. While re-arranging many of the graphics into different slides I noted that in many cases the fill and line colors would drastically change when pasted into the new slide. I further discovered that this same thing actually occurs when creating a graphic (Drawing Object) in one 2007 presentation and simply pasting it into another 2007 presentation. Experimenting, I found that it has something to do with "THEMES". I found a related query in this forum "PowerPoint General Question" by joe_btfsplk on 6/13/2007, but the answers only related to importing entire slides... I want to be able to copy and paste individual graphic creations (complex grouped Drawing Objects) from multiple presentations into one new presentation WITHOUT having any of the colors changing. With the 2003 version this is not an issue... what am I missing with 2007? |

Maintaining colors of Drawing Tools objects
It actually has to do with color schemes. Color schemes are a part of themes
in PPT 2007, but they also exist in 2003. Probably your issue is that the color schemes don't map well from 2003 to 2007. http://www.echosvoice.com/colorschemes.htm explains color schemes in PPT 2003. The principle is the same in 2007. In 2007, if you click on one of the Shape Fill or Line Fill or Text color dropdowns, the top row is your color scheme. There are more colors in a 2007 color scheme than there are in a 2003 color scheme, which is partyl why they don't map well. Set up your accent colors in 2007, and probably that will help. Sorry the "color schemes and ppt 2007" page linked to from http://www.echosvoice.com/colorschemes.htm isn't done. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com What's new in PPT 2007? http://www.echosvoice.com/2007.htm Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances http://tinyurl.com/36grcd PowerPoint 2007 Complete Makeover Kit http://tinyurl.com/32a7nx "BKip" wrote in message ...
