Formulas: Subtracting totals of different tables
I am trying to take the total of one table and subtract the total of another table. I have bookmarked the tables as Table3 and Table4. I was wondering if someone could give me an example of the formula I would use. I have tried different ways but I get the message undefined bookmark or incorrect symbol. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Formulas: Subtracting totals of different tables
Tiffany, here's how I got it to work for me:
1I created two tables, put in some numbers, then used the Table Formula command to get the sums. 2I selected the cells with the sums and bookmarked them, naming them "first" and "second" (clever, no?) 3I inserted a formula field (Insert Field Equations and Formulas = (Formula)), and, in the box at the bottom of the Field dialog box, I entered "firstsecond," without the quotes, of course. 4I clicked OK, and it gave me my result. When I went to Tools Options View Bookmarks) I saw that Word had bookmarked my sums from Step 2 above thus: []. I rightclicked my field from Step 3 and selected Toggle Field Codes and this is what it revealed: {=firstsecond\*MERGEFORMAT}. Hope this helps. Formulas: Subtracting totals of different tables
If the 'total' on each of the two tables is the sum of all cells above,
you could use a formula coded like: {=SUM(Table3 B:B)/2+SUM(Table4 B:B)/2} where the braces are created via CtrlF9. For more information on Word field maths, see: http://www.wopr.com/cgibin/w3t/show...&Number=365442 (url all one line) Cheers Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com/
