Office Home & Student 2007 Activation Question
Please help with information.
I have Office Home & Student 2007. I know I can activate it on 3 machines. But... On MY computer, I am currently using it. On my Laptop I have installed it. I have installed it on my wife's Desktop computer. That is 3, right? But... I need to install (only temporarily) on a NEW computer for me. That would make 4 installations and Microsoft won't allow that. Can someone supply with a phone number that I can appeal & explain a temp situation to MS? Or what does anyone suggest I do? I just want to remove & replace some files on my old computer to the new one, and they would both have to be hooked up. Must I delete, or uninstall the Office Home & Student 2007 on my old machine first? And then can I install it on my new machine? I see problems, but I do not know what to do! Help. Dave __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 5066 (20100427) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com |

Do it but don't activate. As long as you don't need to use it more than 25 times... May I ask WHY you need to install it TEMPORARILY? |

Office Home & Student 2007 Activation Question
Sure. I had installed it on my earlier Laptop and also on my (now) older
Desktop that I use everyday. I bought a new Laptop and used the 3rd install on it and comletely deleted everything on my old Laptop. Then I had a new Desktop built for my wife. (That never had Office installed on it.) I installed Office Home & Student 2007 on it. The reason for install problems: I am now having a new: Desktop PC built for me. I want to have transferred only my Favorites, Address Book , and Mail & Newsgroup account settings transferred. (I'm afraid to do it, although I'm sure it's a simple process. THEN I'll set them both up (the computers, side-by-side) and using a 'thumbdrive' transer all the folders (files) I want from my old computer to my new compluter. At the same time, I may need to use Office. I found that I could no longer install that program. (Just looking ahead.) That is the reason for my question. A fellow contributer to the Newsgroup. Peter, says that a MS phone number will pop-up when I try to install it on my new computer and that is fine. I'll call and explain to MS If I have to. I can (with some difficulty, personal reasons) use my Laptop and/or my wifes computer if I have to delete this program from my 'old' computer to satisfy MS. That is why I want to use (if I have to) the older program installation for a few days. That is a long-winded explanation. Sorry 'bout that. Does anyone have any other ideas for me? Thanks in advance. Dave "Gordon" wrote in message ... "David Dyke" wrote in message ... That is 3, right? But... I need to install (only temporarily) on a NEW computer for me. Never seen that before. The DVD doesn't know how many computers it's been installed on. Sorry, AFAIK that's rubbish. It's when you try to ACTIVATE it the problem will arise so don't activate! |

What do you think I should do? As long as it's only installed on THREE machines at any one time then you will be able to activate. The worst scenario is that you might have to use Telephone activation. |
