Default Check box in Form Fields

Using Word 2003, I added the check box via the Forms menu
(set up form by using tables) but when I click on it, an
X does not appear. What am I missing? I've done a few
searches on line and have found nothing.
thank you!

To use this kind of checkbox, you would normally protect the document for
forms. There are a number of ways to create and use clickable checkboxes in
documents / templates. Some require protected or locked forms, others do
not. Take a look at the Checkbox template available at
http://www.addbalance.com/word/downl...#CheckboxAddIn for an exploration
of these.

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...nTheBlanks.htm especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles.

Hope this helps,

Charles:
Thank you for your very quick response! All I needed to
to was to Protect the document for the check box to
actually work - thank you, it works beautifully!!
Gratefully,
Regina
