my new computer without having to buy a new license?

Assuming its a retail version of Office and not one supplied with the old
PC - OEM which dies with the old PC

Or may be not if it is a retail version or Teachers and Students
edition! Retail version allows two installation and S&T edition 3! OEM
is dead - kaput!

I had a laptop where I intalled Office 2000. The laptop died on me, and I'm
about to sell it to someone else who I presume will repair it. I did not
uninstall Office 2000 from the laptop, and I'm not able to now since the
laptop does not work.

When I install the same Office 2000 on another machine, I assume I'll need
to "call-in" to activate it. Will Microsoft activate it for me based on my
claim that my previous installation died on me?

What is the phone number to register the product? Is there someone at
Microsoft I can call to "cancel" my previous installation?

Thanks!

Office 2000 didn't require activation.

Just call in and explain if necessary.

Actually, some Office 2000 releases did.

I didn't think it started until Office XP.
