Default How to correct discrepancies in Outlook Select Names and Contacts.

Outlook 2002 has a problem with Select Names matching Contact list. A deleted
or incorrect name still appears in Select Names even after it has been
deleted from Contacts. How do I update Select Names to remove unwanted Names
please. Thanks

This is not a known "Outlook problem."
This is more likely an end user problem.
This is only seen if you are deleting the information form a Contacts Folder
that is different than the one you are displaying in the Outlook Address
Book.
Examine the configuration of your Contacts Folders and the Outlook Address
Book.
It is also seen if you are referring to the autocompletion cache instead of
the Outlook Address Book. Your term "Select Names" is unclear. Clarify what
you mean.

Thanks Russ and apologies for my lack of correct terminology. In simple
terms, when you open a new message and enter the first 3 letters a window
expands to show you the options from your Contact list. My problem is that
some names in this window have been either deleted from the Contact list, or
include a spelling mistake when they were set up and therefore are not valid
addresses. I just want to find a way of deleting the obsolete or incorrect
'options' so only valid Contact names appear. Hope that explains it better.

No wonder. That's a different function entirely from the one you posted.
"Select Names" is an Outlook Address Book function.
You are talking about autocompletion, which has nothing to do with your
Outlook Address Book.

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. If your autocomplete list contains only a single entry, use the
directions he

To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions he
